Report

What do Woking have to do to get a win?  A bit more 'rub of the green' or ‘lady-luck’ would have surely seen Woking gain a favorable result against a very clinical Send team.

Much like the Arsenal of old, lots of possession but, not the right end-result.

Send nearly scored the quickest goal of the season straight from kick-off but, from then on Woking got control of the ball and really dominated possession.  However, with the high-line attacking play it always leaves Woking vulnerable to the counter attack.  Send found themselves 4on1 with Toby and there was only ever going to be one winner as Toby jumped down at the feet of the 4 attacking players. The ball disappeared out of view for a few seconds with Toby on the floor and the 4 Send players frantically trying to get the ball into the goal.  Toby then emerged and the ball was once again safely in his hands - last week we had Adam’s goal of the season and this week we had save of the season from Toby.

Bradley was looking strong at the back and was helping us drive forward.  Aston looked spritely and Iesa was again giving us a few cameos of his close ball control and silky skills.  For all the possession that Woking did have they were unable to convert that into goal scoring chances - something that would come back to haunt them by the end of the match. Christian was doing well despite feeling under the weather and finding himself outnumbered with their players a couple of times. Elliot picked up from where he had left off last week and saw him biting into some lovely tackles.

It's seems to be a bit of an unwanted habit - conceding goals against the run of play and thats exactly what happened today. Send made the most of their chances and left us trailing 3-nil at the break. One goal from Send came from nowhere as a speculative long distance shot left Toby unsighted from the crowd of players in front of him eventually seeing the ball creep into the back of the net.

During half-time I said to the boys that they were doing okay and that if we could get the next goal then we'd be in with a big chance of getting back into the game. Going into the second half that goal so nearly came! A brilliant corner by Bradley was met with a strong header by Adam that flew just wide.  Adam seems to be getting a knack of finding himself in the right place at the right time and am sure we'll score more goals this season with his Lampard-esq runs.

Next it would be Iesas turn as he went on a dazzling run into the box only for him to be brought down by one of the Send players, which resulted in the referee signaling for a penalty. Iesa bravely picked himself up and stepped forward to take the spotkick.  He struck the ball low and hard to the corner but, was to be denied by a fantastic save from the Send keeper. Just like the premiership it is harder to score a penalty than to save one this season. Iesa didn't let the miss affect him as he was determined

to get his name on the score-sheet. Another brilliant run by Iesa was spotted by Toby from a goal kick, Iesa kept his composure and looked to slot the ball into the corner.  The ball looked like it was heading into the net as we all started to celebrate on the touchline only, to see the ball travel agonizingly wide.  It was evidently clear that it was going to be one of those days again!

I'm not sure what Daniel sneaked into his cornflakes this morning but, he was playing like a boy possessed.  He was diving in everywhere just like Robbie Savage and winning the ball back all over the pitch(unlike Robbie Savage) - it seems that all the moaning I pay him over the weekend had suitably wound him up and is something that I may pursue in the future J

We were on the attack again with all of our players forward apart from Adam who was deputizing for the substituted Christian. A shout from the line "you're going to score in a minute" was directed at Woking but, typically found Send on the counter-attack again as they managed to sting us for another goal.  Before the final whistle another superb strike from Send left Toby with no chance.

A very competitive match that saw us dominate certain elements left an unexplainable scoreline.  The famous quote from Greevsy "Footballs a funny old game" was expertly demonstrated today at Send recreation ground.

Final Score: Send 5:0 Woking Town Blues
